Prefabricated Logistics Building
A prefabricated logistics building is a steel-structured facility that is designed and partially assembled in a factory before being transported to the construction site for rapid installation.prefabricated logistics building This emerging construction model dramatically reduces build time, saving valuable project resources while delivering efficiency and quality for logistics and industrial storage applications.
While a prefabricated warehouse is commonly used to store and process goods, the term can also be applied to structures like hospitals and data centers that require significant strength, large interior space, and cost-effective design.prefabricated logistics building While both prefabricated warehouses and modular buildings offer similar benefits, there are key differences in their applications, construction methods, and cost structure that should be taken into consideration when selecting the best option for your specific needs.
The speed and flexibility of prefabricated warehouses are well-suited for a wide range of industries.prefabricated logistics building Whether you’re an e-commerce company expanding to meet seasonal demand, or an industrial manufacturer looking for storage solutions, the flexibility and reliability of prefabricated warehouse construction can help you grow quickly without overspending.
But the greatest limitation to prefabricated warehouse construction is the coordination of logistics and construction processes. With traditional logistical practices, when prefabricated components arrive at the construction site, they must be stored until they can be unloaded and hoisted. This delay causes significant inefficiencies, resulting in increased construction costs and reduced productivity. The development of the Just-In-Time (JIT) logistics model has been proven to be effective in reducing these inefficiencies by allowing transportation plans to be adjusted promptly according to actual construction progress and requirements.
This paper develops a JIT-based vehicle scheduling scheme for prefabricated components to optimize their distribution between various workspaces. The vehicle scheduling model considers both offsite logistics and on-site logistics spaces, incorporating time consumption for each logistics phase, the transportation combination of different prefabricated components, and the loading capacity and energy consumption of transport vehicles and hoisting equipment. In addition, it also takes into account logistics uncertainties such as urban traffic congestion and crane operation speeds, which vary dynamically during the transportation process.
The optimization method uses a multi-objective NSGA-II algorithm to balance the objectives of minimizing carbon emissions and customer satisfaction during prefabricated component distribution. The results of the analysis show that the proposed vehicle scheduling scheme significantly improves the JIT logistics process for prefabricated components, enabling construction and supply chain managers to reduce inefficiencies by optimizing the transportation routes, energy consumption, and load capacity of transport vehicles. In addition, the optimized vehicle schedule ensures that prefabricated components are loaded in a timely manner and efficiently transition from one workspace to another, thus avoiding unnecessary delays and ensuring efficient delivery to construction sites. As a result, the proposed logistics optimization model has great potential for promoting the growth of prefabricated construction and improving the performance of logistical operations in prefabricated construction.
